It feels pretty cool knowing that there are people who are actually interested in my endless rambling about one of my favourite musicians! Finally, I want to thank Marissa Nadler herself. I also want to thank everyone reading this and everyone who has read any of my posts on here. I think that OWOB is one of the most interesting and unique music blogs around and I’m so happy that I got the chance to contribute to it. I want to thank Hendrik for giving me this incredible opportunity, and for letting my OWOB turn into a TWOB. Nadler’s music creates the beautiful dark, melancholic atmospheres that are perfect for those walks. During those walks, it’s still pitch dark, I usually never encounter another person, and I admire the moon and get lost in thought. I think her music is a perfect backdrop for my 4 AM walk down a usually-very-busy-but-currently-deserted street to my bus stop. Marissa Nadler’s music is my usual choice for soundtracking my commute to those early morning shifts. I’ve never come across music that is quite like Nadler’s and I don’t think I ever will.Īs I mentioned in my post about “Mexican Summer,” my job requires me to frequently work early morning shifts, sometimes starting as early as 5AM. She has one of the most beautiful voices that I’ve ever heard and her songwriting is absolutely astounding. Throughout her career, she’s consistently created music that is lush, dark, and somehow both light and heavy at the same time. I think the fact that I’ve written about 13,000 words about Nadler and her music and still could write even more if I had the time speaks to how amazing of a musician she truly is. But if any of the things I just mentioned sound interesting to you, please check them out! I guarantee you that they are all amazing. I was probably being a bit ambitious when I convinced myself that I would be able to cover it all. There was a lot of stuff that I planned on writing about that I simply didn’t have time to cover - her recently released Leave the Light On demos compilation and the song that it’s named after, her various collaborations with other musicians, how I think her song candles are amazing, and so much more.

Nadler has recorded dozens of cover songs, and I was originally planning on doing a post about my favourites.
#Ordinary world cover movie#
Nadler’s cover of the song turns it into something that could soundtrack the aftermath of the horror movie scene with its dark, haunting atmosphere.

I’ve always associated “Ordinary World” with being in deserted grocery stores at 1 AM and expecting some horror movie-esque scene to unfold at any second. I’m ending my time on OWOB the same way I started it: by sharing one of my favourite covers by Marissa Nadler. Marissa Nadler - “Ordinary World” (Duran Duran cover)
